Strong Torkey/2000
At 3AM Aug/17/1999, West of Torkey was hit
by a strong earthquake. There was an earthquake
of magnitude 7.8. This earthquake claimed
about 3000 lives. And there were 2or30,000
wounded people. My friend ,Jyanal lost his
parents and his brother.And Uanal also lost
his friends. In Torkey roads and house aren't
restored yet and there ere a lot of injured
people now. I think Jyanal and Uanal are
sorely distressed too. But they always do
something with all them might. Jyanal tattooed
his memories about his family and his
friends on his shoulder. So I think they
are strong men. I have greate respect for
them.

知っての通り、１９９９年８月１７日の午前３時ころ、トルコ西部地方でマグニチュード7,8の大地震があった。死者３０００人、負傷者は数万人にのぼった。その大震災に遭遇した人間がアメリカにもいた。ジャナル、アヌルは二人とも、大切な人を亡くして、こっちにやってきたらしい。ジャナルにいたっては両親、兄弟を亡くす地震だった。初めて会った時はそんな地震の事など、微塵も感じられず、陽気で人懐っこく、テニスを一生懸命やる姿しか目に入らず、そんな事がありながらここにいるなんて事はまったく思いもよらなかったから、地震や事故などで、家族を亡くした事のない俺は、そんな事実を聞かされ思わず言葉を飲んでしまった。こいつらとの出会いは俺を大きく変えたと思う。小さな事ですぐ悩む自分の小ささを痛感した。そして、両親やツレなくして、単身でテニスってゆーたった一つの武器もってアメリカにやってくるなんて、こいつらはただものじゃねーなと思った。俺もこいつらに負けない位の精神力、誰にも負けない武器を身につけないといけないねー。
