Statement  
 

    The body of my work flows out of my exploration of the transition from constraint to freedom.  The elements contained within my objects express these basic ideas(of constraint and freedom) and the relationship of one to the other.
    One theme throughout my work focuses on the use of the human figure.  I am intensely interested in the nature of the figure as the basis for my artistic exploration.  Each silent figure represents our common human struggle to move from constraint to freedom.  Anatomical details within each figure are intentionally omitted in order to allow the viewer freedom of interpretation and create a sense of "universality".  The resulting silence in each face invites deeper exploration of thought as expressed in each works.
